The Entrepreneur

…an entrepreneur is someone who steals office supplies from home and brings them to work

My New Favorite Quote

11 Apr

“If you have the skills to do client work, you have the skills to make your own product. You’re selling yourself short by selling that on a work for hire basis.” — Coudal

Wow, this is one of my new favorite quotes and one of the exact reasons why I started Networking Exam Academy. Creating your own product really works. Now I just wish I could get to the point that I could do less “client” work and spend more time on improving my own products. That time is coming very soon, and I’m very excited! ;)

4HB Take 2 – Day 1

26 Mar

Whoops…

I’ve been really really busy the last month. Even though I was already working like 80 hour weeks I got an awesome job offer and decided to tack on an additional 40 hours a week worth of work in addition to everything else I’ve been doing. I’ve got some debt to pay off :)

When working non stop and not sleeping something had to give and my 4hb eating went right out the window. But I just wanted to let you know that I’m back!

Here are my current measurements as of this morning:
-L Arm – 13.25
-R Arm – 13.25
-Waist – 34.75
-Hips – 35.75
-L Leg – 22.00
-R Leg – 23.00
Total Inches = 142

Weight – 160lbs

So, I did quite a bit of damage the last few weeks, but I know its reversible and I’m ready to get back into it. I always forget this, but health really is one of my top priorities. When I’m rich someday I’m not going to be happy unless I’m looking good so I better make sure I take care of my body too.

My main excuse has always been that I’m too busy to eat healthy. But I think that is just a lie we tell ourselves. I bet that by following the 4hb diet you will be more productive and be able to work longer hours (or play longer). That’s what I’m going to prove.

###
9:03 am – glass of water
9:31 am – 4 hard boiled eggs
10:00 am – glass of water
11:30 am – glass of diet mnt dew
12:11 pm – glass of diet mnt dew
1:56 pm – diet coke –> maybe I should eat something
3:54 pm – multi-vitamin w/ a glass of water
3:55 pm – 5 scrambled eggs
5:00 pm – diet coke
7:08 pm – 5 scrambled eggs w/ a glass of water
9:25 pm – spoon full of almond butter

hmmm…. maybe I should drink less soda and drink some more water instead :)

I’ll miss you Grandad :(

14 Mar

My Grandad past away a few days ago and his funeral is going to be tomorrow. I’m not going to be able to make the 19 hour drive up to see the grave side service, but I wish I could be there to show my support for him and our family.

I always loved taking the trips up to northern Idaho to visit him and play on his farm. And I’m really sad that my now almost 2 year old daughter never had the chance to meet him.

My Grandma died before I was ever born and so I’m sure that after 24 years of being separated my Grandad is happy to be reunited with his Wife again.

I’ll miss you Grandad :*(

My Mom just wrote this and will be reading it at the funeral:

###
Our dad was born May 17th, 1927 at Winona to William Harry Peters and Elizabeth Killmar Peters. He was named Charles Lee Peters , but his family called him Lynn or Lindy after Charles Lindberg. Dad’s grandparents were German immigrants that settled in this area. The Killmar side of the family homesteaded on the other side of this Butte. T his is where our family roots began and grew on the prairie. Our grandparents bought the Herman Yates place when they got married and that is where Dad and his brother Tike were raised. He attended school through the eighth grade at the Hopewell school which was located just down the hill from here. He graduated from Kamiah High School in 1945.

Dad served in the U.S. Army for 9 months and was then requested by his father to return home to work the farm. He married mom, his high school sweetheart Wilma Jean Helt , Jan. 1, 1947. They bought the Kellar place which is at the bottom of this hill and began their life together. To them were born three children, my sister Carol, my brother Randy and myself Cindy.

Dad worked quite a few different jobs along with farming to help support his family. He drove school bus. He worked for Ida-Lew construction hauling gravel and cement. He was a commissioner for many years with the Winona Highway district and he also graded the roads for the district. He also worked with Kenneth Yates in the gravel business. Dad worked at H&H Motors in Kamiah as their parts manager during most of my school years. In the summer when dad needed to be in the fields, Mom would take his place in the parts department. These jobs helped make ends meet. But his passion was farming and ranching.

Mom and dad raised cattle and chickens. And though the chores that went with having animals wasn’t always pleasant, it taught us kids to be responsible and gave us good stories to tell.

Dad learned to farm with his dad back in the days when thrashing machines were pulled with horses. He loved to see his crops grow. One of my favorite memories with dad is riding on our old John Deere Tractor with him. I would hold on to the wheel rim and a crow bar he had stuck through something and off we would go. It would not meet the safety standards of today, but it was a lot of fun. It became difficult these last few years for him to lift and do the things needed to farm. It was hard on him not to be able to do the things he had for so many years.

Outside of farming, mom and dad liked to go camping up the Lochsa and Selway Rivers. My sister Carol remembers them using CB radios to talk to those manning the Lookout Towers . Several summers we took adventurous trips into the mountains to visit them. They enjoyed traveling to the Oregon coast with friends. Dad loved riding his motorcycle. Has he got older he rode his four wheeler and had lots of fun riding trails with his friends. Dad was a great booster for his home team, the Kubs. He especially enjoyed watching the basketball team. When I was in high school we hardly missed a game, home or away. He continued to support the school all these years and was disappointed he wasn’t able to attend any games this season.

I think his daily trip to town to have coffee with the gang kept him going all these years. He enjoyed the comrodarie and the good stories told around the table.

Dad witnessed a lot of changes in his life. From wash boards and clothes lines to washer and dryers, from crank phones to cell phones, from horse drawn farm equipment that required much sweat of the brow to air conditioned cabs with soft seats and listening to a favorite program on the radio to color television and beyond. We tried to talk him into joining the computer age, but we didn’t have any success in convincing him he would enjoy having one.

Dad had a great since of humor and always looked on the bright side of life. We have heard many times this week that he was good man, and indeed he was.

Dad left this life Thursday, March 10th, 2011 We will miss him, but are relieved he is free from the pains of this world and once again reunited with mom. We love you dad.

Four Hour Body – Day 83 – Ultraendurance

7 Mar

After doing an intense warmup with kettle bells, burpies, and lots of squats, I ran 2 800 meters runs. My first run I ran a 3:02 and my second run I ran a 3:17. So not too bad, but I was really hoping to break 3 minutes. I’m sure if I had a fresh set of legs I would have been able to do it.

Four Hour Body – Day 82

6 Mar

Man I feel like a total slacker, I haven’t posted in a few days and I haven’t been following the 4hb 100 percent either. I have no excuse really, but ever since I started my new job last week things have been crazy! Even though this next week is going to be extremely busy its nice to know that I have my wife on board to go along with the 4hb diet with me. She is a lot better cook than I am and its nice to work with someone as a team than against them.

I need to get to bed now cause its 11:22 PM and I have to go to my crossfit class tomorrow morning at 5:30 AM!
